Learning Report: An Educational Analysis of an Online Course in Adobe Flash

The Report

Research Methods

Research methods were employed in an indirect way for this project. In fulfillment of the requirements for EDU522: Research and the Learning Organization, Moustapha Diack, PhD. and I collaborated on the outline for an exploratory research study on Student and Faculty Attitude and Perception towards the Implementation of Podcasting, Screencasting and Vodcasting as Instructional Tools. To complete this study, a need was discovered within the educational community, a research problem was developed, a thorough literature review conducted, and proposed research methods were designed for implementing the study. My rationale for involvement in this collaboration was that I intend on creating podcasting as an instructional supplement to the existing course materials in the Multimedia Program. In addition, I plan on having learners create podcasts that could be used as their project formats and turned in for a grade.

While this project has not been realized as yet, the literature review I conducted for the study revealed rich sources of information that can be used at a later date. Those sources included methods, techniques, student attitudes collected to date, institutions already successfully using podcasting in their curriculum, and best practices for instructional content. The final results of our collaboration can be found in the following document, diack_rogers_study.pdf.
